Users of protective and preventive equipment such as the HERO Face Shield and HERO Eye Shield must take into account the hygiene and physical and social distancing measures recommended by public health professionals.
On March 13, the province of Quebec declared a health emergency due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. Shortly after the implementation of this exceptional measure, researchers from the Center hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) asked for the help and agility of the Optimoule team in order to design a reliable and safe for personnel struggling to stop the spread of the virus.
In just 23 days, the Thetford Mines company Optimoule refocused part of its activities to design the tools and launch the production of the HERO Face Shield Visor, which is now distributed in the Health and social services, dentists’ offices, school boards, manufacturing companies and businesses.
In addition to the Face Shield visor, Optimoule has recently created the HERO Eye Shield Goggles/Glasses. Designed to be worn with a mask, the eye shield can be worn with or without glasses underneath.
HERO Personal Protective Equipment is made from recyclable plastic. The comfort is attributable to its extreme lightness, the flexibility of the frame and the ventilation hatch on the top.
Both the HERO Face Shield and Eye Shield offer enough clearance to be comfortable with glasses and a mask. The Face Shield is also large for dentists’ magnifying glasses (enough to protect the face and neck).
The HERO Face Shield is made up of three quick to assemble and disassemble parts: the screen, the frame and the adjustable cord. The Eye Shield is worn like a regular pair of glasses and consists of two parts.
Inexpensive and available: both the HERO Face Shield and Eye Shield have been designed to be accessible and reusable. Designed, manufactured, and supplied in Canada.
Due to the flexibility and elastic attachment of the frame, the face shield and eye shield can be worn by any individual, regardless of their morphology. It is still possible to customize the product at the request of the customer.
Wearing the HERO Face Shield or HERO Eye Shield is a recommended visor and face covering by Health Canada and the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec.
HERO PPE products are designed and manufactured in Canada and is fully reusable and recyclable. In addition, the frame can be made from recycled plastic.
The HERO Face Shield is worn on the forehead and retained by an elastic cord. The frame is fitted with a 0.254 mm thick screen allowing for several hours of comfort and an area large enough to cover the face. The visor offers enough clearance to wear glasses, magnifying glasses and a mask.
Each individual wearer is responsible for cleaning their HERO Face Shield and Eye Shield. The Face Shield or Eye Shield need to be soaked in warm soapy water for 1 minute, rinsed and then sponged with a soft cloth. If you ever doubt the safety of the face shield/eye shield or its ability to be cleaned, please dispose of it in your recycling bin.
The Hero Face Shield and Eye Shield are above all a preventive device and in no way constitutes immunity to any type of virus.
The HERO Face Shield/Eye Shield can be worn by healthcare personnel in hospitals, dentists and veterinarians, but also by all workers who have direct or indirect contact with customers.
We need to remind ourselves that wearing this Face Shield/Eye Shield must be part of a set of hygiene and physical / social distancing protocol recommended by the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec and by Health Canada.
Wearing a face shield, eye shield, or a visor in no way replaces all of the implementations and protocols recommended by Health Canada.
Users of protective and preventive equipment such as the HERO Shield PPE must take into account the hygiene and physical and social distancing measures recommended by public health professionals.
If for any reason fogging of the glasses, face shield, or the wearing of the mask or a face-covering compromises the safety of the workers (despite searching for technical solutions to remedy the problem), the wearing of the face shield should be considered a last resort among safety protocols.
